The city was hot, the air heavy with humidity. As I left my appartment, my first thoughts were of Shanghai. I was on my way to our first meeting, not knowing what was going to happen there, not knowing what the next weeks and months would have in store for me, or indeed, where we were going to meet. The fact that we ended up at a Chinese Restaurant was not merely a zynical allegory of my mind’s – it would be one of countless visits to come.
In June 2006 we began our ambitious project »Mercenaries 3025«. A browser-based-game it was supposed to be. Not just any new game, but a new kind altogether. Initial planning and concept took until January 2007 and saw us meeting every friday – and quite a lot of the other days as well. By then we were comfortable turning theory to practice and bringing our concept to life one step at a time.
In February 2007, the foundation of »Binärträumer GbR« by developers—and now associates—Dirk Benkert, Johannes Keß, Philipp Kruse and Sebastian Kemmer marked the first step towards the realisation of »Mercenaries 3025«. Updating this blog regularly with news of recently hit milestones will aid us in presenting our work to a wider audience, the first results of which should be made available here within the next few weeks.
