Mercenaries-3025 — Blogmaster 3025 — Jul 11, 10:02 AM

We’re back from our one-week programming marathon and ready to unveil a few more details about the upcoming Mercenaries 3025. Of course, we also have those screenshots we promised.

Talk about good timing. Last time we were still wiping sweat off our foreheads as we were typing but after that the weather changed quickly. Temperatures dropped and the sky became clouded. We weren’t about to go outside anyway but knowing we didn’t miss out on anything made working a lot easier. It kept raining for the better part of the week making the coffee taste even better and the fingers literally fly over the keyboard. The end result—we believe—is quite impressive. And it should be, considering we worked around 12–14 hours each day barely even stopping to eat.

Our framework can now be considered pretty complete. Any line of code we’re adding at this point is all about content. For instance, the process of generating a character is fully functional. In just a few steps you will be guided through a set of questions that will determine your place and standing in the world of Mercenaries 3025.

What’s more, we started to integrate a Jabber service. That’s right: chatting in Mercenaries 3025 will not be a crummy home-made implementation, it’s going to be the real thing. Premium members will even have the possibility of accessing the in-game chat via their favourite Instant Messenger.

Finally, the Battletech Universe wouldn’t be complete without lots of planets and mechs. All of them will be present in Mercenaries 3025. Do you know how a planet’s flora will change the outcome of your battles? Ever wondered how a Marauder would do when facing a Warhammer? You’ll find out.
